Chicago Latina Moms and the Arturo Velasquez Institute presents the Country Financial Día de Los Muertos: Festival para Niños, bringing together multicultural traditions to commemorate our dearly departed. This kids' festival will be held at the Arturo Velasquez Institute, on Saturday, October 26th in two sessions: 9am to 11am and 12pm to 2pm.
This event is for families who want to learn the customs and significance behind Dia de los Muertos. We will have a virtual reality room to experience how Día de los Muertos is celebrated in Mexico (courtesy of BTEC and Monument Art), facepainting by Mega Fiesta Productions, performances by Ballet Folklorico Infinity, and storytelling by La Divina Catrina (Chicago Latina Mom Marybel Solano).
Don't forget to dress up as to enter our Calavera costume contest sponsored by Wintrust Bank Pilsen! (This contest is NOT a Halloween costume contest.)
Children will explore different craft stations that will teach them the meaning behind some of the symbolism behind Dia de los Muertos and will go home with a goodie bag of their crafts. Don't miss out on our local vendors in our Mercadito to start your holiday shopping. Support Chicago Latina Mom owned businesses!
We can't wait to see you and to share in keeping this beautiful custom alive in our community.
Tickets are NON-REFUNDABLE. If you are not able to attend the event, please coordinate with someone to take your ticket and give us your name at the registration desk. If no one can purchase your ticket it from you, we will accept your ticket purchase as a donation to Chicago Latina Moms.
