Chicago Latina Moms 2022 Grants

The Chicago Latina Moms Grants aim to empower Latina mothers in the areas of academics, entrepreneurship, and community work in order to support their demonstrated ambitions in creating change in their lives, families, and communities.

The Application Process

To qualify to apply, submissions must be made by individuals who identify as Latina/Latinx, are parents, and reside in Chicago/Chicagoland area. Chicago Latina Moms must limit their application to one category only. Incomplete or late submissions will not be reviewed and all decisions are final.


​​​​​The Selection Process

A selection committee will review all qualifying submissions using a rubric and finalists will be determined after all selection committee members complete their scoring. One winner will be selected per category and notified of their award. The recipient will be notified by May 7th, 2022. The winner is required to attend the Para Mama: a celebration of the Chicago Latina Mom award ceremony where the recipients of the Chicago Latina Moms Grants will be recognized on May 15th, 2022.  All applicants will be notified of the status of their application by May 7th, 2022.   All decisions by the selection committee are final.


Participation Rules

Applicant must be a mom/parent, identify as Latina/Latinx, and reside in Chicago/Chicagoland area. All applications must be submitted by the deadline ofMay 2nd, 2022 by 11:59pm before midnight. Applicants must limit their application to one Chicago Latina Moms scholarship only. Incomplete submissions will not be reviewed.

By submitting information to Chicago Latina Moms, you hereby certify that all information is true, current, and complete. Applications will be accepted until May 2nd, 2022.  The grant/scholarship funds must be used within 12 months of being awarded the funds.  Selected winners will be required to provide a quarterly check-in update with Chicago Latina Moms on the status of their business/education/project and the application of the scholarship funds. Selected winners will also be required to write one to three blog posts for Chicago Latina Moms over the course of one full year from when the scholarship is awarded.  The winners of the grants/scholarships must agree to participate in all related publicity, including photographs, and attend the Para Mama: a celebration of the Chicago Latina Mom event in May 2022.

Graduation Caps

Academic Mamí

For the Chicago Latina Mom currently enrolled in higher education. Proof of enrollment is required with the application. Scholarship funds must go towards any of the following: books, school applications, exams, materials, tuition, computer, computer software. Letter of recommendation and personal essay stating financial need are required.

Boss Mamí

For the entrepreneurial Chicago Latina Mom who owns a business in their name. Proof of business status and EIN required. Letter of Recommendation and personal essay stating financial need required.

Grant funds must go towards the following categories: 1) equipment 2) software and/or systems for the business to operate; 3) professional development; 4) branding and marketing materials

Mamí de la Comunidad

For the Chicago Latina Mom who is always giving back to the community by volunteering closely with an established charity or not-for-profit. Community projects organized by the applying Chicago Latina Moms are also accepted and encouraged. Grant funds must go towards any of the following: project supplies,  equipment, program development, field trip/experience, professional conference, donation to a specific project. Letter of recommendation and personal essay stating financial need are required.
